Alan B. Messing is the son of two Holocaust survivors, both of whom were the inspiration for this book. He is a father to four daughters and a grandfather to nine grandchildren.

He is recently widowed after forty years of marriage. He worked in the transportation industry for over forty years as well. This is his first foray into fiction.
